The Cardinals gathered together in art class to create a home for the flock of clay birds that they created last week. We started with a straw wreath, noticing how it looked similar to a bird's nest, except that it needed some additional support on the bottom.
To understand what birds do when they create a nest, we tried our hand at weaving. The Cardinals learned the word "loom" which they used for their weaving and got to practice the important pattern of "over-under-over-under" that artists use when they weave.
We then got to work weaving sticks, twine and yarn into our looms. The Cardinals quickly got the hang of things and are excited to practice weaving more in their classroom!
