Building a sense of community, belonging and ownership are
very important aspects of any early childhood classroom. Thus, our Community
Helpers Chart is up and running and the Cardinals are very excited! During our
Morning Meeting we discussed how our classroom community is similar to a
family, with each person playing an important role. Everyone should be taking
an active role in the daily tasks that take place at school. Therefore, every week,
the jobs will be rotated giving each of us the chance to gain ownership of our
school day. Being a helper gives us a real sense of accomplishment, building
our self-esteem in a meaningful way. And, having a job is a concrete way for us
to practice teamwork as we learn that working together gets the things done
quicker.
