The Students as Teachers carry on...

...and continue to inform us. The Bird Researchers have been, and continue to do, an amazing job at presenting and sharing their information. If you get the chance, please stop by the counter area in front of the LS library. The Cardinals’ fabulous creations are displayed there for all to enjoy.   

The Hummingbird

1) “It is the only bird that can fly backwards.”
2) “Hummingbirds lay 2 eggs.”
3) “The smallest hummingbird is the Bee Hummingbird.”
4) It lives “...in the forest, the mountains, the desert, or the wetlands.”
5) It eats “...small insects, spiders, and nectar.”

This was Samuel’s choice of bird to research because “It has a long beak and makes a humming sound with its wings.”
  







The Blue Jay

1) “Eggs are blue or light brown with brown spots”
2) “Mainly blue feathers with white chest”
3) “Noisy, bold and aggressive”
4) It lives “in nests in trees near US”
5) It eats “nuts, seeds, berries, and sometimes eggs.”

Tori choose this bird for her research “because it’s pretty!”










The Hummingbird

1) “Hummingbirds flap their wings so fast that it makes a humming sound!”
2) “Hummingbirds can float in the air and can fly up, down, left, right, backwards and upside down!”
3) “Hummingbirds’ hearts beat 21 times in one second! That means 1,260 times in one minute. (Human hearts can only beat 200 times a minute!)”  
4) It lives in “Western Hemisphere.”
5) It eats “nectar, tree sap, insects & pollen. They can lick their food 13 times a second!”

This was Radha’s selection ”because they are cool, because they can float in the air and they can fly upside down!”








The Blue-Footed Booby

1) They dance with their wings up.
2) Female and males sit on eggs.
3) It is hard for them to walk on land.
4) It lives in "Central and South America"
5) It eats "fish".

The Blue Footed Booby was Evan's choice because "my favorite color is blue."
